The CWU has two Education and Training centres. Alvescot Lodge, which is situated on the edge of the Cotswolds twenty miles west of Oxford, and the Elstead Hotel in Bournemouth close to the sea and other amenities.

From October until Easter, the Elstead Hotel is available for residential CWU training courses. From Easter until the end of September the Elstead is available for holiday makers. Alvescot Lodge is open for residential Education and Training courses for CWU members throughout the year. Members can enjoy swimming (outdoor heated pool), tennis, croquet, three hole pitch and putt golf, table tennis, darts, pool and other 'pub' games.

The CWU enjoys an enviable reputation in the wider trade union and labour movement for the excellence of its education and training programme. The CWU recognises that properly targeted education and training will ensure that representatives develop the skills and confidence required to take part effectively in the industrial relations process.
